My name is Beverly Libby Bourque and I am a San
Diego Artist and seamstress who's work is being shown all over
the A couple of years later I opened a small thrift shop and it was there that I first began to make bags and hats. During the slow times in the shop I would take tapestry fabric samples and sew them together to make a unique piece which was both beautiful and functional, at that point I knew I had found my calling. I have been featured on the Inside San Diego Television Program and recently my work was shown on the KUSI morning news. My designs and creations have won numerous contests and have been the subject of many newspaper and magazine articles. I have been residing in the same community for 25 years and have spent a lot of time as a volunteer on several community endeavors. I have designed and made the costumes and sets for many local theater productions, and every October I created one-of-a-kind costumes for rent or sale. My interest and experience manifests itself in many different artistic expressions such as many different types of craft work, decoupage, hat embellishing, poster and flyer design, sign making, faux finishing, murals, stenciling, simple upholstery, mosaics, bead work, gift baskets, plus hand painted furniture and oil paintings. southern California area. I am
a new England native, born in Massachusetts and raised in Maine.
In 1974 at the age of 22, I made my way to San Diego with my
daughter. I'd wanted to be an artist since I was 13 years old
and so after living in San Diego for several years I spent 3
years studying art and soon after got my first job as an employed
artisan. I also painted murals as a freelance artist and subcontractor
for 5 years. My experience also includes working as an advertising
assistant for a natural food outlet, this was a wonderful way
to be creative and learn about being in the public eye while
giving tours and representing the store at health fairs.
